Item Description

A CLASSIC, very rich and old-time combination specimen of lustrous, yellow cancrinite microcrystals with platy, purplish/blackish/bronzish sodalite and white nepheline. Elaeolite is an OLD-TIME synonym for nepheline. Cancrinite is a fairly uncommon, complex silicate. Not pretty to look at, but certainly highly representative of the species and very famous Maine locality - Dennis Hill, Litchfield. Comes with an expertly handwritten, faded label from an older collection. The collection this came out of was a museum stash dating to prior to World War I.
