Item Description

Carrollite is a cobalt copper sulfide species, which for many years was a notably rare mineral, often only found in small crystals (less than 1 cm). Going back to the late 1990s-2000s, these amazing Carrollite crystals from DR Congo first started to hit the market, and they were immediately recognized as the finest examples of the species ever found. The best pieces from the Kamoya South II Mine are unquestionable the largest, sharpest, most impressive crystals of Carrollite extant. The piece is a good sized, sharp, well-formed, lustrous / splendent, metallic, bright silvery colored modified cuboctahedral crystal free of matrix. An impressive piece brilliant, euhedral faces. I can see a few tiny imperfections on the top of the piece, so it's not pristine, but this is forgivable in my mind based upon the impressive size and caliber of the crystal, and even though it's not fully formed on the bottom, it IS crystallized, so it's actually close to being a "floater". These pieces seemed to have dried up, and I don't know if more will be found. A great opportunity to snag to big specimen of Carrollite for a great price. Valued $3,500.
