Item Description

The mine at Huanuni is one of the largest tin mines in Bolivia and is a real sight to see. This mine is better known for its phosphate species, but some of the more unique and attractive Cassiterite specimens are found there. A few sharp, lustrous, black/brown, prismatic "drillbit"-habit crystal crystal groups of Cassiterite sit atop frosted, white, prismatic "scepter" Quartz crystals. This "drillbit"-habit is rarely seen in Cassiterite and the best Bolivian specimens of this habit are found at Huanuni. This piece came out of the ground about 25 years ago, and it is one of the better pieces from Huanuni that I have seen in a while. Don't miss out on this lovely display specimen.
