Item Description

This specimen was labeled originally as coming from the Wolak Mine in South Korea, but it is almost certainly from the Tae Hwa Mine, as Cassiterite hasn't been reported from the Wolak Mine according to mindat.org. What a beautiful thumbnail specimen features a few cyclic twinned groups of sharp, lustrous Cassiterite measuring up to 1.7 cm across, sitting on prismatic white Quartz crystals. The Cassiterites might look black in reflected light, but when backlit, there are beautiful gemmy sections that glow with a light straw color. No major damage anywhere, and the piece is very aesthetic and showy. A hard to find thumbnail sized matrix display specimen from this old classic locality dating back several decades.
