Item Description

From an old East Coast collection, this piece comes with an historic label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the label has Ford's New York address it dates to 1946-1957. It was priced at $1 back in the day! It is a beautiful piece of from the beloved tin mines in Cornwall, but this isn't ore, it's crystallized Cassiterite!! Sharp, well-formed, lustrous, black, twinned crystals of Cassiterite measuring up to 1.1 cm across on matrix. Good quality in the center of the specimen, with a bit of roughness around the periphery. A great old time classic specimen from Cornwall, and very difficult to find on market today. PLEASE NOTE: The piece is glued to an old bit of styrofoam, and it was difficult to remove, so we've simply left it attached so as not to potentially hurt the specimen.
