Item Description

Sharp, lustrous, metallic cassiterite crystals, to 1.6 cm, and crystal sections, plus a 2.5 cm tabular silvery arsenopyrite section, are attractively scattered on the front of the two-sided matrix plate of granular cassiterite and quartz on this rich ore specimen from this historic old tin-tungsten deposit, worked until 1990 in the famed Erzgebirge. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4589 and acquired from Scott Williams as a gift in 1966. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Classic, rich old-time tin ore from the Erzgebirge.
