Item Description

A classic piece of the well-known, eye-catching pseudomorphs of grey-black, fine-grained Cassiterite which has formed a pseudomorph after tabular Carlsbad-twinned Orthoclase. These are hard to find, and if you collect European minerals, don't miss out on this one! I don't know if this particular replacement of Cassiterite after Orthoclase is found anywhere else on earth. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4969). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
