Item Description

Cassiterite is well-known from hundreds of world localities, but this might be the first piece from Emmaville that we've seen. Sharp, well-formed, lustrous, jet-black, cylic twinned crystals of Cassiterite measuring up to 1.0 cm across are sitting on a gemmy, slightly smoky Quartz crystal from this obscure locality in New South Wales. The label mentions that the piece is from a place called "The Gulf". For the most part, the piece is in good shape, though it does have a few bruises here and there. If you collect worldwide Cassiterites or minerals of Australia, you can't afford to miss out on this attractive association specimen. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12528). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
