Cassiterite (twins) with Muscovite on Albite

Cassiterite is typically seen in ore body deposits, but the rare pegmatitic Cassiterites are some of the most unique and eye-catching examples of the species out there. This is a piece of the famous material from Linópolis, Brazil featuring distinctive compressed twins with high luster, opaque black color and sharp, defined faces. The largest twin measures 3.2 cm long. Associated foliated groups of silvery Muscovite make for a great association, and the matrix is composed of white Albite crystals for contrast. No major damage, only a few small areas of roughness I can see with the naked eye. A good sized, showy combo specimen from this famous locality. It's rare to find pieces with all three minerals together like this from Linópolis. Valued $1,250.
