Item Description

Catapleiite gets its name from the Greek words for "wholly" and "full", because it is always accompanied by a number of rare minerals. Unfortunately the label only identifies the Catapleiite on this piece, so we don't know the other species present, although I believe the black crystals are Aegirine. The label states that the white crystals are the Catapleiite, but the few photos I can find online indicate that the pinkish-brown crystals are actually the Catapleiite. What makes this piece so significant, is not only is it the first specimen of Catapleiite that we've offered from Sweden, but it's actually from the Type Locality, which dates back to 1850. If you're a species collector, be sure to get this one! This piece comes with a label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals.
