Item Description

Sakoany celestines are considered to be amongst the finest in the world and the fine article in the May-June, 2010 issue of the Mineralogical Record confirms this lofty status. The vug in the sculptural CABINET matrix is totally lined with gemmy and lustrous, light steel-blue, celestine crystals with classic chisel terminations. They almost look like topaz crystals. The focal point of this fine piece is the 4.5 cm crystal, contacted against the roof of the vug. Modest bruising and periphery wear are noted elsewhere, but is trivial in overall impact. This piece is a classic, highly representative and showy example of the species and locality. Valued $300-450.
