Item Description

Celestine stalactites are EXTREMELY RARE from the famous mines of Agrigento Province. This impressive slightly tapered stalactite with a classic rounded termination is comprised solidly of glassy, sparkly celestine crystals around a massive milky-white celestine core. A single 3 mm sulfur crystal on the side is a nifty accent. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. A trivial bit of bruising is out-of-sight on the back. Undoubtedly older RARE material, but no proof. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5295. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
