The Celestine crystals from Sakoany are considered to be amongst the finest in the world. This attractive cabinet display piece features a superb, very sharp, well-formed, euhedral, gemmy, sharp, smoky blue crystal of Celestine measuring 4.0 cm surrounded by smaller pale blue Celestines on host rock matrix. The luster is superb on these crystals, and they have the classic chisel tip terminations typical for this locality. Superb quality, and only minor damage that I can see with the naked eye. Priced at $1,750 in the inventory. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
