Item Description

Celestine is famous from the historic limestone quarries near Berlin, that have been active for over 750 years (MINDAT). This showy and classic large specimen features sharp, blockly, glassy, transparent to translucent celestine crystals sprinkled with tiny marcasite crystals filling a sculptural vug in limestone matrix. The crystals reach 2.0 cm and have the typical iron oxide inclusions, adding color and character, for the locale. Excellent and classic old-time combination material from the Paterson Museum Collection. The numbers match on the old German labels.
