Item Description

A classic small cabinet sized Cerussite specimen from the world famous Tsumeb Mine. The piece is a fine quality, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, slightly smoky and colorless reticulated / twinned Cerussite crystal group free of matrix. When the piece is rotated in the light, you can see an almost chatoyant effect on the upper thin edge of the crystal. The piece displays beautifully as you can see in the photos. Of the literally hundreds of species found at Tsumeb, one of the all-time species associated with the locality is Cerussite, and beautiful display pieces like this will always stand out as some of the finest examples ever found. The specimen is in great shape, but the tip of the main Cerussite crystal has a small nick, and it is contacted on the bottom where it clearly detached from the pocket wall.
