Item Description

A very nice thumbnail from the world famous Tsumeb Mine. The piece is features classic, sharp, very lustrous, "smoky golden" colored, twinned Cerussite crystals with the largest crystal measuring 2.3 cm (measused diagonally across) sitting on a thin layer of matrix. The Cerussites ares in great shape overall, with very little damage, and the only real roughness is around the periphery where it detached from the pocket wall The most impressive aspect of the crystals is that some of them are incredibly GEMMY (nearly transparent) with just glow when backlit. BETTER IN PERSON, HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH. With the price of Tsumeb specimens rising daily, this is a great opportunity to snag a classic specimen from what is considered by most people to be the most prolific mineral locality in the world. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5058). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
