Cerussite - large twin (1.5 pounds!)

This is a large, glassy, gemmy to translucent Tsumeb Cerussite specimen of iconic form and shape and It is old material, certainly from the 1960s or earlier. It is four inches across and nicely twinned on a dramatic scale! It is textbook in form with an off-white color and super adamantine luster. If you want a prime, large example of Cerussite from Tsumeb this is it! It will command attention in any display of prominent specimens, Tsumeb or otherwise! This glassy, very gemmy crystal twin is composed of five individual component crystals, and is an incomplete sixling only by how it formed. It has a lovely faint smoky hue to the off-white color. The crystal is complete with only very minor bruising a single point of attachment and a couple of small pockets into the crystal that contain micro Duftite inclusions. All of the component crystals are terminated! Erika Pohl was a strong collector already by the 1950s and this is one of over 100,000 specimens that were curated by the early 2000s. This dates the piece to the very earliest workings in the middle levels of Tsumeb, if she got it around the time it came to market as we suspect. In any case, it formed her early core of Tsumeb specimens, which was to become a lifelong pursuit over 60 years (ending at over 10,000 Tsumeb pieces in the collection). 695 grams! That is 1.53221 pounds! It is a huge, impactful, significant specimen.
