Item Description

A beautiful display specimen of the classic Cerussites from Stribro (Mies) in the Czech Republic. The piece hosts a few fairly well-formed, smoky brown colored crystals of Cerussite measuring up to 1.7 cm across which are sitting atop dark grey Galena and white Quartz matrix. One of the very few specimens of this classic material that I have offered in the auctions. This locality dates back nearly 1000 years, and is one of the most well known central European lead deposits extant. You simply do not see these specimens on the market, and this piece is one of only a handful of that we've had to offer from this locale in a while. The piece comes with a fantastic hand-written label from the Museum Regni Bohemiae (National Museum {Prague}) along with a classic label from noted Czech/Slovak mineral expert, Josef Vajdak of Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value. You can read Joe's biography here: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1371.
