Cerussite on Smithsonite var. Cobaltian (rare combo!)

This is an excellent small cabinet piece of a translucent white, super lustrous Cerussite on pink-peach Smithsonite from Tsumeb. The luster is AMAZING - super glassy! This is a rare style for cerussite, seldom seen, and we have seen only a few others dated to the late 1970s or early 1980s in collections. Set off just right of center is a stunning, lustrous, parallel growth aggregate of both bladed, untwinned crystals to 3.6 cm with some perceptible, bladed untwinned crystal in the group. The thin, bladed crystals are super sharp and reflect any incident light that makes the white Cerussite cluster very obvious on the piece especially in contrast to the peach-pink Smithsonite crystals. The twinned Cerussite crystals are more noticeable looking up or down the C-axis (long axis) of the group. The translucent, peachy pink Smithsonites have a satin luster with crystals from 3 to 5 mm in size. This piece is so well composed and sits perfectly for display! A great Tsumeb small cabinet piece, with unique aesthetics and one of the most interesting matrix cerussites we could imagine from here. Valued $2500-5000.
