Item Description

Příbram is one of the old great European silver-lead-zinc districts, that dates back to the Iron Age, and was initially mined by the ancient Celts. This piece is a classic and hard to find example of Cerussite featuring dozens of sharp, smoky-brown colored striated crystals measuring up to 6 mm on dark grey Galena on host rock matrix. The Cerussites are best seen up close, and they exhibit some beautiful crystal forms, including some beautiful reticulated twins. This piece dates back many decades, very possibly as far as back the 1800s, and comes with an old label from New Jersey mineral dealer, John Albanese. From the collection of Brian Kosnar.
