Item Description

A lovely display specimen of the zeolite Chabazite in Trachite matrix from an undisclosed locality in "Aussig" according to the label. Sharp, very well-formed, rather lustrous, stark white colored pseudo-rhombic (they'yre actually triclinic) crystals of Chabazite (most likely Chabazite-(Ca)) measuring up to 9 mm sit in the beige colored Trachite matrix. Great quality, and the only real damage is around the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket. From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #473). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
