Item Description

This piece was collected in 2007 when some really fantastic examples were found. Typically Chabazite is often white or off-white, so these intensely colored crystals are are truly some of the finest color Chabazite specimens in the world. This piece hosts several fine quality, pseudo-rhombohedral (they're actually triclinic) crystals with a strong orange-red color with very sharp faces and very good luster measuring up to 1.8 cm on a bit of matrix. The piece has not been analyzed, so I cannot say for certain which species of Chabazite it is, but I think the safe bet would be Chabazite-Ca. You just don't see many Zeolite species with THIS kind of color, and this one is not only intense in terms of color, but it's really eye-catching in person for its composition. It's in good shape on the display side, but it's contacted on the back. A great piece to add to a suite of Canadian minerals or worldwide Zeolites.
