Item Description

A very nice specimen of this beautiful species. It was found in the mid 1960's in the Grandview mine, which existed in the Grand Canyon. The mine is long defunct, but when specimens were being recovered, they were some of the most incredible, and brightly colored specimens from Arizona, or anywhere else for that matter. This specimen is filled with micro brilliant blue Chalcoalumite on matrix. You can see that we've provided some great micro photos of what these crystals look like up close. Please note that there have been almost NO specimens from this locality available on the market for a very long time, and collecting is now completely forbidden. This is a very rare opportunity to own a unique and attractive species from one of the more interesting localities in the United States. The retail value on this specimen is $500. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6557). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
