Item Description

Chalcocite and pyrite are EXTREMELY RARE from Utah's La Sal Mountains, famous for very fine azurite specimens. This is possibly a UNIQUE pseudomorph of matte-finish dark charcoal-gray chalcocite replacing intergrown, flattened, modified pyrite cuboctahedrons. The pseudos rest on a sandstone matrix. Not pretty to look at, but this is an important and rare Utah pseudomorph from the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collections. Come with a 1960s-70s era label.
