Item Description

A really interesting and rarely seen specimen of Chalcocite from the lesser known Cashin Mine in Western Colorado. This copper / silver producing locality lies about 7 km south of Paradox and dates back to 1896. The mine well-known locally for its beautiful copper and silver combination specimens, but copper sulfides like Chalcocite are exceptionally difficult to find on the market these days. This full-sized miniature is a nearly sold piece of metallic blue-black colored Chalcocite with crystalline areas that can be seen on all sides. A light dusting of mint-green colored Malachite is a gentle touch of contrast to the piece. This is as far as I can remember, the first specimen of Chalcocite that we've had to offer from this locality, and it would make a great addition to any copper mineral suite or a collection of Colorado minerals.
