Item Description

A striking thumbnail plate of highly lustrous, electric-aquamarine chalcophyllite from the famous Wheal Gorland of Cornwall. This is classic, old-time material from this renowned district and mine. Chalcophyllite is an uncommon copper arsenate, and this is a HUGE CRYSTAL. Although a thumbnail specimen, its the largest loose floating crystal of this quality and size that I have seen rfom here, and so it has high impact and importance as a thumbnail specimen. Note it is stabilized gently by dipping in a 10% elmers glue solution. Valued $900-1000. Ex Roland Sherman Collection.
