Item Description

Exceptional cluster of intergrown Chalcopyrites from an old locale in Wheal Hughes in Australia. The largest Chalcopyrite is up to 1.9 cm, but what really makes this miniature stand out are the dramatically tiered faces and the vivid, coppery-gold patina. It's a good, aesthetic Chalcopyrite on its own merits, and the best that I have seen for this small, inactive copper locality. There are similar specimens, but not as good, if you expand your search on MINDAT to include all mines in Moonta. This is a particularly fine locality piece.
