Item Description

A cool reference specimen labeled as coming from the 230m level of the "Gewerkschaft" at Wölsendorf featuring pink blades of Barite which play host to prismatic crystals of soft golden colored Calcite and small metallic golden Chalcopyrite crystals. The largest Barite blade measures 1.2 cm, and the longest Calcite is 5 mm. The front is in good shape, but the back of the piece is contacted where it was removed from the pocket. You don't see many Wölsendorf Barites on the market these days, so if you collect worldwide Barite or minerals from Germany, be sure to pick this up. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2596). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
