Item Description

Small but excellent, splendent, very sharp, metallic, rich golden colored crystals of Chalcopyrite measuring up to 3 mm sitting atop Barite (according to the label), but I think it might be a layer of Siderite on Barite. The Chalcopyrites are BEAUTIFUL to view up close, and certainly fun to view with a loupe or a microscope. We photographed the crystals with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate their quality. Please note, one of the labels mistakenly said the piece was from the Himmelfurst Mine, not the Himmelfahrt Mine, which is important. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12881). Kay's label actually mentions that the piece is from the Alte Elisabeth Shaft. A few other labels from undisclosed collections accompany the piece. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). Valued at $950.
