Item Description

Specimens from the old Au-Ag-Cu-sulfide San Pedro Mine of New Mexico are seldom available. This is a very fine, aesthetic, old-time combination piece. A striking, 3.8 x 3.7 cm, cluster of very sharp, well-striated, lustrous, olive-green, chalcopyrite sphenoids is dramatically placed beneath the jagged peaks of the glassy calcite scalenohedrons. The mostly calcite matrix is accented with pods and stringers of smaller chalcopyrites, pyrite and malachite. For the locality, this is an outstanding combination piece with excellent display quality. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection. Fairly valued at $800-1000. A must for the locality or species collector.
