Item Description

A very showy and colorful old-time small cabinet combination plate from this long-abandoned group of copper mines, worked from ~1861-1923 (MINDAT). A fantastic 3.5 cm stacked parallel-growth cluster of bright golden-iridescent, flattened chalcopyrite crystals is dramatically set on the matrix plate covered with very glassy hematite-tinted quartz points. In great shape for such an old-timer, with only one broken quartz noted in the interior. Specimens of any species are not that common from here and this a high quality typical association of chalcopyrite and quartz. From an East Coast collection and comes with a faded, water-stained century-old label.
