Item Description

A VERY RARE chalcopyrite and dolomite pseudomorph combination from this famous and ancient iron and copper mine. Dolomite is RARE from here. A 1.0 cm partially hollow epimorph of pastel-pink dolomite after a sharp chalcopyrite is dramatically set on the edge of the intergrown very bright, lightly iridescent golden chalcopyrite crystals. You can see chalcopyrite in the interior of the pseudo and there is more dolomite scattered around on the piece. The mine is well-known for outstanding chalcopyrite specimens, but examples are rare and are seldom on the market. The mine was first mentioned in 1712 and closed in 1965 (MINDAT). Choice and RARE combination material from the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
