Item Description

Brassy chalcopyrite crystals and needle quartz crystals richly and attractively cover the sulfide matrix on this excellent and showy, old-time specimen from the Ground Hog Mine of New Mexico. The stepped-growth chalcopyrites come in two forms: blocky crystals to 1.0 cm; and two striking, chisel-form crystals to 1.2 cm, that dominate the skyline. The piece probably dates to the 1950s or 60s. Fine and uncommon combo material from the Howard Belsky Collection.
