Item Description

Miedzianka was formerly part of Germany where it was called Kupferberg in Silesia. Today it sits in Poland and is best known for its micro secondary ore mineral. This piece features sharp, lustrous, golden metallic crystals of Chalcopyrite measuring up to 4 mm which are associated with pink Adularia crystals and unknown crystals of a blue-grey hue. For reference, Adularia is not reported from this locality, and it very well could be Ankerite. I've never seen a piece of this material before, and it would make a worthwhile pikcup for anybody who collects minerals from this locality. A hard to find specimen that dates back many decades. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4170). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
