Chalcopyrite with Pyrite on Quartz and Sphalerite (ex Allen Heyl Collection)

Item Description

A cool association specimen from the collection of Colorado geologist Allen Heyl (for whom the species Aheylite was named after). A sharp, oxidized metallic crystal of Chalcopyrite is associated with a few sharp, lustrous modified cubes of Pyrite and aesthetically sitting on a "spray" of sharp, gemmy, colorless Quartz prisms with minor Sphalerite on the base. The Chalcopyrite measures 1.6 cm. Good quality all the way around, and hard to find on the market these days.
