Item Description

Chalcosiderite is a rare copper phosphate species, a member of the Turquoise Group and is isostructural with turquoise. This showy, extremely rich, old-time specimen is from the famous Wheal Phoenix in Cornwall, the Type Locality for chalcosiderite. The U-shaped quartz crust is totally covered with sparkling, translucent, pretty forest-green, grape-like chalcosiderite spheres. This is outstanding material from this historic Cornwall mine and is certainly over 100 years old. Valued $300-400. Ex Howard Belsky Collection.
