Item Description

A very rarely seen specimen from the Sunnyside & Volcano Mines in Patagonia Mountains of Arizona featuring attractive green Chenevixite (a rare copper iron arsenate named in the early 1800s after Richard Chenevix, an Irish chemist) which has formed pseudomorphs after octahedral Cuprite crystals, on matrix. Chenevixite is only found from a few localities in Arizona, and to the best of my knowledge, the Sunnyside & Volcano Mines are the only locality in the world where it is found pseudomorphing Cuprite, though the species have been found alongside one another from a few other world localities. The largest pseudomorph measures about 6 mm on edge, and the majority of them are damage-free. A really cool, old-time specmien that you're not likely to find anywhere on the market. Ex Brian Kosnar specimen.
