Item Description

Sharp, blocky, well-formed, rich golden-brown colored Childrenite crystals on matrix from an undisclosed locality in Brazil. The crystals actually have some nice luster in areas, with some nice orange highlights off the reflections. A good quality Childrenite from any locality, and considering how few crystals from this country are sitting aesthetically on matrix, this one is certainly better from the standpoint of composition and form. The largest crystal measures 1.7 cm, and is certainly an older specimen probably dating back 50+ years. A fairly rare crystallized example of this well known phospate. Valued at $700. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5640). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
