Item Description

A very rarely seen unusual pseudomorph from this fairly unknown quarry in Devon, England. I honestly don't know if I've seen another pseudomorph like this from any other world locality. Several good sized, sharp, "wedge"-shaped crystals of Axinite-(Fe) have been replaced by a member of the Chlorite Group. The "Chlorite" is a soft yellow-white hue and gives great character to the fairly good sized Axinite crystals, which measure up to 3.0 cm. The piece is in superb condition and displays well from a few angles. If you collect minerals of Cornwall and Devon or unusual pseudomorphs, do NOT miss out on this rare and exotic specimen that dates many decades. Valued at $500 for the rarity of the material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9539). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
