Item Description

A wonderful association specmen featuring micro reddish-purple crystals of "Kammererite" (now Chromian Clinochlore) on with chromite matrix from the Red Ledge Mine in Nevada County, California. This locality is a former chrome prodcer, not to be confused with Red Ledge mine in Sierra County. The piece looks beautiful under magnification, and we've used a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to illustrate the quality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5282). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
