Item Description

Cat's eye gemstones occupy a particular niche in the gem world. They are created when a certain material contains thin inclusions (sometimes tubes or fibers) which concentrate a light source to create a single line that runs across the gem, creating a distinct "eye". This phenomenon is called chatoyancy, and the "eye" will often move across the stone when it's rotated in the light. Some of the most well-known examples of cat's eye gems are the beautiful Chrysoberyls from various localities around the world. This stones is a wonderful Chrysoberyl "cat's eye" featuring very fine, distinct "eye" and an alluring color. This stone exhibits a bright greenish-yellow color, with excellent gem clarity. The "eye" in the stone is very sharp, and has that slight "milk" appearance, creating that highly sought after "milk and honey" effect that is often seen in these gems. We don't get a lot of these anymore, as it seems sources are dried up in many places, and my best guess is that this stone is at least 10+ years old.
