Some of the finest and most recognizable examples of Chrysoberyl in the world are those from Espirito Santo in southeastern Brazil. Most of the pieces you'll see from this area are twinned, typically showing either the "sixling"/"trilling" habit or the "V"-shaped form, but this piece is a rarely seen UN-twinned single crystal. This thumbnail has a smoky golden hue with excellent luster and fine gemminess. It's actually clean enough to produce a good quality little gemstone. From the collection of Shields Flynn.
