Item Description

Alexandrite is the green gem variety of chrysoberyl that exibits a color change in natural and artificial light from green to amethystine (Alexandrite effect). This classic very fine miniature is from the famous Type Locality in Russia. A sharp, large, two-sided, partial cyclic-twin is jauntily perched atop biotite schist matrix with smaller crystals below. Depending on the light source, the translucent crystal shows the classic green turning to purple and pink. Choice, old-time material. Valued at $1500 and worth it. NOTE THESE ARE DIFFICULT TO PHOTO - MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!
