Item Description

This a classic Gem Silica stone from Arizona. It should be noted that Gem Silica is not really a species or even a variety, but rather a trade name used in the gem/lapidary world. The material gets its rich color from Chrysocolla (a copper-bearing silicate mineral), which is often found as micro inclusions inside of cryptocrystalline Quartz (Chalcedony). These stones can range typically from opaque or translucent, but you will see gem quality stones of this material. This stone has a vibrant blue color, with a "Round Cabochon" cut form the famous Miami area in Arizona (likely the Inspiration Pit). This is a wonderful gem to add to any collection, and you can use this material quite easily in jewelry.
