Item Description

Here we have a fine quality faceted gem of Chrysoprase, the nickel-bearing variety of Chalcedony. The color is not just caused by nickel, but rather nickel-bearing phyllosilicates included in the Chalcedony. Without a doubt the best pieces in the world come from Australia, particularly those from the Marlborough area in Queensland. The very best of this material is highly prized by collectors, and this gem is very good quality for Chrysoprase, as they are rarely this gemmy. This stone is a very attractive, INTENSE blue-green, translucent, "Step Oval" cut gem with excellent consistency of color. It's quite rare to see faceted stones of the material, especially with such strong hues and clarity, and this is a choice example for any gem collector. Rarely are they seen in this quality, and the fact that it's faceted makes it all the more desirable.
