Item Description

Chrysoprase is a varietal name given to green nickel-bearing Chalcedony. The nickel is directly responsible for the color in the material, which is most often a light green hue, and ranges from opaque to slightly translucent. The finest examples of this material come from Australia, and while they are typically are translucent, this stone has excellent gemminess, with an attractive, rich blue-green color and an "Oval" cut. The very best of this material is highly prized by collectors, and this gem is excellent quality for Chrysoprase, as they are rarely so gemmy, especially in this size!
