Item Description

Two, splendent, gemmy and lustrous, gorgeous cherry-red, cinnabar crystals are aestheticaly set in lustrous, cream-colored dolomite rhombs on this showy and excellent specimen from Tongren, China, the premier locality for fine cinnabar crystals. The beautiful, large crystal is 1.5 cm and is a penetration twin. The crystals have this beautiful, "ruby-silver" look to them, just like proustite or pyragyrite crystals! The cinnabar crystals and the adjacent dolomite vug are in good shape, with the smaller cinnabar crystal having a lightly bruised termination. Periphery wear is noted to the dolomite and the sides and base have been sawed to enhance the display quality. This is a fine example of the combination species and locale.
