Item Description

This specimen came labeled as coming from Altaville, which is a former unincorporated community in Calaveras County, and is now part of Angels Camp. With that said, we cannot find a listing of Clinochlore coming from any locality in or around Altaville, so it's probably from a small, isolated discovery. This piece hosts well-formed groups of sharp, lustrous, translucent forest green colored Clinochlore which are associated with purplish Chromian Clinochlore (fomerly called Kotschubeite). A great piece for anybody who collects minerals of California, as we've never had a piece of Clinochlore from Calaveras County to offer in the auctions. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5831). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
