Cobalt-bearing Calcite

This Cobalt-bearing Calcite miniature displays a beautiful, translucent, pastel pink color with faint orange undertones and great luster. This lovely piece is covered with sparkling, saturated, pastel pink stubby rhombohedral crystals to 1 cm. The translucent to nearly transparent crystals have just a faint yellowish area at their centers giving them added vibrance and a distinctive color for these usually pink Calcites. The crystals are tightly clustered to enhance that vibrant color, but not so tight that the individual flattened rhombohedral crystals are obscured. The luster is excellent and scintillating! The piece is pristine from the front and only contacted on the back where it was removed from the pocket. A gorgeous miniature from the late 1990s or early 2000s
