Item Description

This specimen was collected by Antonio Barahona of Spain who is credited for discovering the species, which was approved by the IMA at the end of 2001. This is a rare hydrated cobalt magnesium iron arsenate that is only found in a few localities worldwide, the Dolores prospect being the type locality. This piece hosts hundreds of micro yellow to golden-orange color crystals of Cobaltarthurite. I have photographed the crystals under the microscope, as they truly are micros. A great reference specimen of this hard to find species both from the type locality, and the man who discovered it!
